ASHHURST.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ASHHURST, Oct. 14

Tho annual meeting of the Ashhurst Tennis Club was held in the library rooms on Friday evening, the president (Mr W. N. Brewer) being in the chair. The treasurer’s report and balance-sheet were adopted, after which the election of officers was taken, those appointed being:— President, Mr W. N. Brewer; vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. A. McDonell and H. Fenwick; club captain, Mr N. Brewer; vicecaptain, Mr R. Potts; secretary and treasurer, Miss D. Brewer; auditor, Mr J. A. McDonell: coinmitteo, Misses M. Hickey, E. Nesdaio, L. Trass, I. Fenwick and Mr J. Barrett. The resignation of Miss G. Dunham was accepted, and four new members were admitted, Misses M. Milne and Y. Muldrock and Messrs C. Jones and Johnson. Owing to tho small membership, it was 'decided that it was impossible to compete in the association matches this season. After some discussion it was also decided to further lower tho subscription with the hopo that membership would thus be increased. The opening day for this season was fixed for Labour Day, and invitations to a few clubs are to be issued. A hearty vote of thanks to the retiring secretary, Miss M. Hickey, concluded tho meeting.
