CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF.
L.G.U. CHALLENGE BOWL. Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Oct. 16. At the women’s championship golf meeting to : day, in addition to the championship round, the L.G.U. Challenge Bowl was decided, this being over 18 holes on stroke handicap. Scores in this match, especially those later in the afternoon, were adversely affected by tlie high wind and were, in the case of the leaders, not quite up to the standard of the Coronation Medal round last Friday. The best gross card was that Miss 0. Kay, who did the round in 79, four strokes ahead of Miss 0: Smith (Napier), but the latter player’s handicap of eight gave her a net 75, which was the best of the match. lour players' had net 77’s, these being Mrs Broderick, 88—11—77; Mrs Monteith, 95 —18 —77 ; Mrs Monkman, 92 —15 — 77; Mrs Schroff, 90—13—77.
The following players will meet in the fourth round, to decide who shall enter the semi-finals set down for Wednesday :—Miss Currie plays Mrs G. Williams; Miss B. Gaisford plays Mrs H. Collinson; Mrs Stout plays Mrs Blain; Miss Kay plays Miss BafnsGraham. At a meeting of delegates to the N.Z. L.G.U. to-night, it was decided to hold the next ladies’ golf championships at Titirangi. Mrs H. S. Lawrence was re-elected president.
