MAN FOR SENTENCE.

Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 17. Extensive thefts of iron valued at £9OB were admitted by James Baden Hamilton I’ett, aged 33, married, a storeman, who was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Accused bad been employed by John Lysaght, Ltd., for ten years and was in sole charge here.

According to the police, accused began selling some *of the iron three years ago and used the ri< ncy for his own purposes in racing bets. Accused had stated that he was very unlucky at the races and generally lost. £8 to £lO. If he lost on the first day he doubled the bets on the second day. The shortage of iron had been discovered in September last.
