Talbot, the counties’ representative on the Slain Highways Board, speaking at an Otago Motor Club meeting, said that since the board was formed in 1924 the amount spent on maintenance and construction totalled £10,500,000. The feeling that the South Island was not being fairly treated was dying. Motorists now were realising that a fair deal was being made between the two islands on the basis of petrol consumption anil the registration of vehicles.
