RUMBERG v. PATTERSON NEXT WEEK. The quality of the fare provided this winter for wrestling supporters has been excellent. The public have every reason to bo pleased with the perspicacity -of the matching committee of the local association in securing a “winner” like big Jake Patterson. An analysis of the contests wrestled here shows that, on every occasion Patterson has been one of. the gladiators, the contest has been a thriller, and voted as the best yet, or at least fully satisfying. With Patterson to meet Rumberg at the Opera House on Tuesday night next Palmcrstonians shall again see two giant athletes, each over 16 stone in weight, in the pink of condition, striving to get into the final four to compete for the coveted New Zealand professional championship. This match will bo precoded by the local amateur finals in all weights and on the merits of the programme there should be another record attendance. Tho box plans open on Saturday next at the Central Booking Office. MAMOS BEATS VARGA. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 18. Twice hoisting, dumping and pressing Count Josef Varga, the first time in the second round and again in the sixth, Harry Mamos added another name' to his list of wrestling successes when the pair met for the first time in the Wellington Town Hall this evening Varga took a fall in the fourth round after a series of powerful headlocks.
