SENTENCE COMMUTED.

IMPRISONMENT FOR LIFE. SYDNEY, Sept. 18. Cabinet to-day commuted the death sentence passed on Eric Craig. He will now serve life imprisonment and will never be released. Craig had three trials, the - jury in two instances disagreeing. Then followed appeals to the higher Court, which failed. Craig had been previously convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to life imprisonment. Thus lie has twice received life sentence in relation to tw r o women brutally' murdered within a brief period.
