THIRTY YEARS AGO.

EXTRACTS FROM “STANDARD.” SEPTEMBER 16, 1903. At a meeting of the Palmerston North Borough Council it was decided to form and metal three new streets. They were to be called Ranfurly, ltolleston and Ada Streets. Shields had been presented by Messrs Brown and F. Foote for the winners of the local second and third grade Rngby competitions. The first teams to hold the shields were Awahuri (second grade) and High School (third grade). Felix Tanner, then at New Plymouth, proposed to circumnavigate the world in a barrel boat. The boat was lying at Moturoa and was to be launched as soon as weather permitted.
