The annual district convention of the AVomen’s Christian Temperance Union concluded its session on Thursday evening. Tlie Feilding- president, Mrs Spence, lod the opening of the proceedings with devotional exercises, following which reports were presented. The roll call showed that, delegates were present from Levin, Otaki, Pahiatua, Bnllance, Palmerston North and Feilding. Congratulations were sent to Airs McCombs as the first lady AI.P. in New Zealand. The folloging resolutions were debated and passed: That the Board of Governors of the Willard Home be members of the AV.C.T.U. That the time has now arrived for greater efforts to be made to have women elected to I Parliament. That it be a recommendation to unions to arrange a temperance display at A. and P. and other shows. That taxi licenses he issued only t<s men of integrity. That two women | he appointed to assist the censor of films and that a leaflet be drawn up showing to mothers the danger qf letting children go to pictures promiscu-1 ously. Airs Sorensen, of Levin, lod the afternoon devotions. Officers were elected ns follow: District president, Airs H. Paterson, Pali kite a ; vice-president, Airs Sorensen, j Levin; secretary, All’s Young, Levin; I treasurer, Mrs Kennerley, Levin; Alaori superintendent, Aliss Lee, AA raikanae; young people’s superintendent, Airs Terry, Feilding. A lecturetfe on tlie school of methods was given by Aliss Aloore, and the president (Airs Paterson) gave an uplifting address. An invitation from the Pahaitua branch to hold the next convention there was extended by Airs Paterson and gratefully accepted. Thus ended one of the most encouraging and helpful conventions yet held. Aliss Hill recited at the function on AVednesdav afternoon and played the accompaniment to All’s Dewe s song.
