ADRIAN ROSS. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received September 12, 12 noon. 'LONDON, Sept. 11. The deatli has occurred at the age of 74 years of the author, Adrian Ross (Mr Arthur Reed Ropes).

Mr Arthur Reed Ropes, M.A., assumed the name of Adrian Ross for stage purposes. In a brilliant scholastic career ho won several scholarships, and in 1889 produced the comic opera, “Faddimir,” which was merely the prolude to a fruitful series of lyrics and libretti. Among his inoro notable productions were •‘The Toreador" (1901), “A Country Girl” (1902), “The Cingalee” (1904), “The Merry Widow” (1907), “The Quaker Girl" (1910), “Monsieur Bcaucaire” (1919), “The Beloved Vagabond” (1917), while there is a host of other plays from his versatile pen. He had also written and edited a number of books.
