LONGBURN.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONGBURN, Sept. 9. A meeting of the Ladies’ Social Club committee was held in the hall on Thurs day night, Mrs Birch presiding over a good attendance. It was decided to discontinue the social evenings after holding two more functions. The hall will benefit considerably by, the gatherings already held. The commjttoe of the Women’s Institute hold a meeting at the residence of Mrs Lemberg, on Friday afternoon, when there was a very good attendance. Much business was discussed and Mrs Broekliss, who is in charge of the goods from the Blind Institute, reported that a large number of articles had been sold. Mrs Lemberg served a dainty afternoon tea. Mr and Mrs O’Day, of Ivarcro Road, have left the district and gone _to Australia. Mr IC. Landkilde is visiting his parents at Tauranga. Mr and Mrs Ellis are leaving the district and are taking up their residence in Dannevirke. Mrs Biel, of Walker’s Road, is visiting friends in Hawera. Miss Wray, of Napier, who has been on an extended visit to Miss Zurcher, has returned heme. Miss J. Rowland is visiting her uncle, Mr G. H. Passey, Pohangina.
