LINTON.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON, Sept. 4. On Friday evening- in the Linton Hall a successful concert and dance was held by the Women’s Institute and Fanners’ Union. This being; an annual entertainment a very large audience was present. There wero three onc-act plays arranged by institute members. The items were as follow:—Pianoforte solo, Miss Z. Loamy; playette, “Joint Owners in Spain,” Mrs R. Coker, Misses'.E. Young and V. Sutherland; song. Miss Lauronson: violin solo, Miss Ferol Howley; playette, “Quite a Nice Cat,” Mrs Harrison, Mrs R. Coker, Misses L. Irvine, E. Currin, N. Davies, F. Heard and B. Currin; song, Mr Pierard; song, Miss Clark; playette, “Lonesome Like,” Mrs Grctton, Mrs R. Coker, Mr R. Grotton, Mr N. Greer; song, Mr Walker. At the conclusion of the concert programme, Mrs T. Lynch, president of the institute, and Mr Walker* chairman of tho Farmers’ Union, thanked all tho performers and also the audience for their attendance. Supper was then handed round, after which the hall was cleared for dancing, music for tho dance being supplied by (lie local orchestra. Mr N. Greer acted a*> M.C. for the dance, which ended in tho early hours of tho morning. Miss Joyce Shaw, of Foxton, spent the week end in Linton as the guest of Miss Lorna Rix. Mr and Mrs G. Currie, of Paekakariki, have been visiting Linton. Miss E. Currin spent tho week-end in Wellington.
