STABBING INCIDENT
TWO PEOPLE INJURED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 2. Two people were stabbed following a party at a bouse at Onehunga shortly after ten o’clock last night. The police are searching for a middle-aged foreigner who is alleged to have attacked and injured two persons. The victims are:—
Mrs Louisa Annie Thompson, aged 39, of Selwyn Street, Onehunga, who received a stab in her left breast. _Sbo was taken to Auckland Hospital in a critical condition, but was no longer considered a serious case this afternoon.
Roy Johnston, of Queen Street, Onehunga, second-hand dealer, who was stabbed twice in the back. He was attended by a doctor and taken to liis home.
A foreigner, whose name is unknown, met Mr Johnston in the bar of an hotel late on Saturday afternoon, and the two men had dinner at Mr Johnston’s home. Later, with Mrs Johnston and Mr J. Wilson, who lives with the family, they went to the house for a. party. As the visitors were leaving, it is alleged, the foreigner struck Mr Wilson in the eye. Later as they were walking home Mr Johnston approached the foreigner and immediately collapsed, stabbed twice. Mrs Thompson, who interfered, was also stabbed. In the confusion the man escaped. The police were informed, but a thorough search of the district failed to reveal the suspect.

AUCKLAND, Sept. 4. A bedside Court was held in the Auckland Hospital when Mrs Louisa Annie Thompson, who was stabbed at Onehunga on Saturday night, gave evidence before the Magistrate, Mr F. K. Hunt. She said her husband was a relief worker and they had eigiii children. There was a keg of beer at the party and two men, including accused, who were strangers attended. There was some argument between the men during the party, which broke up at about 11 o’clock. At the front gate there was a scuffle between accused and Johnson and she saw Johnson on tlie ground, bleeding profusely from the back. Other members of the party ran to him. Accused started to run and then stood a little distance down the street and began calling out. She went to him saying “for goodness sake go away. Don’t make a noise on account of the neighbours.” The next thing she knew he hauled off and she felt a sharp pain in the left side. She screamed and the accused ran for his life. She walked indoors and collapsed. After some questions witness sat up in bed and signed tlie depositions, after which the court adjourned.
MAN BEFORE COURT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Sept. 4. Following the stabbing of two people after a party at Onehunga on Saturday night, the police last night arrested Helge Vigo Sorensen, aged 46, a Danish seaman, who, in the Police Court to-day, Was remanded on charges of attempting to murder Louisa Annie Thompson and of assaulting Roy Johnston so as to cause actual bodily harm.
