FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
LOYAL MANAWATU LODGE. The usual fortnightly meeting of Loyal Manawatu Lodge was held on Friday night, Bro. Lyon, N.G., presiding over a large attendance. An invitation was received from Loyal Rangiwahia Lodge to their installation of officers; also an invitation from Apiti Lodge to their installation. An invitation was also received from Oroua Lodge to a social evening to be held this month. Court Manawatu A.O.F. notified the lodge that the date set down for the bowls match was suitable. One candidate was initiated into the lodge and two members joined on clearance. The sick visitors reported that all the sick members were improving in health. P.G. Bro. Scroggs reported on the success of the social held last lodge night. Delegates to the Friendly Societies’ Council reported on the proceedings of that lodge at its last meeting, stating that the council would hold a social in the near future. Visitors were welcomed in the usual way. After the lodge closed members spent a pleasant social hour.
FRIENDLY SOCIETIES’ COUNCIL At the monthly meeting of the Friendly Societies’ Council held in the Orient Hall, Church Street, Bro. A. H. Lowndes presided over a full attendance. It was decided to hold an old-time dance in tire near future at which function a presentation will be made to past president Bro. W. Kells. The honours hoard so kindly donated to the council by Bro. Kells has now been finished by the signwriter and by'the next meeting it will be gracing the wall of the usual meeting place. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
