(From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, July 16. Very heavy rain fell here on Saturday night, ami (lie Tutaenui River overflowed its banks near the factory, covering the main road to a depth of several inches. Motorists had some difficulty in getting through, and several ears were held up. Misty, dull weather did not prevent members of Bulls Defence Rifle Club from putting on good scores on the open range on Saturday. D. Lundy got a possible at 300yds, and 11. Meads 48 at 600yds. Detailed scores are as follow: D. Lundy. 50 —45—95; 11. Meads, 45—48—93; J. Siiiillie, 46—44—90; P. Thorbv, 44—45—89; L. Huddleston, 46—42-88; j. B. Robins, 44-38 82.

Bulls and Marton Presbyterian Ping Pong Clubs will play a match at Marton oil Tuesday evening. Bulls will be represented by Misses I. Walker, M. Kearney, 10. Banner and B. Stevens, Messrs H. Hendry, J. Neilson, F. Howard and J. Larnier. ’f ile Parewanui school dance and euchre party was well attended on Friday night. Prize-winners at cards were Miss Murphy and Mr W. Bracken. with consolation prizes to Mrs D. O’Connell and .Mr 10. Gilman. Miss Murphy played the dance music, and an extra was contributed by Mrs A. Trcmbath.

The Makowhai-Rongotea senior Rugby game did not eventuate nl Oiiakca on Saturday, tho only match played there being the Ohakca-Awahuri third grade one, tho home team winning by 6 to 3. Ohakca seniors went to Sanson and defeated Awahuri by 17 lo 11 in tho Jones “knock-out” competition. The committee of the Bulls Bowling Club decided on Friday night to hold the annual hall in Bulls on August 8, and particulars will be advertised shortly. Tho project is being taken up enthusiastically, and it is hoped to make this the ball of the season.

On Friday a* match was played at Bulla between the ladies of Rangitikei and Rangitira (Hunterville) golf clubs, the visitors winning 7 games and losing 5. Following are details, Rangitikei players being mentioned first: Mrs Dean lost to Miss Johnstone, Mrs Goodall lost to Mias Swainson, Mrs Harris lost to Miss M. Swainson, Miss Price beat Mrs Taylor, Miss Brookio lost to Mrs Rowe, Miss Palinor lost to Mrs Illston, Miss Goodall beat Miss Meads, Miss Stevens bent Mrs Barlett. Miss Fagan lost to Mis P. Hammond, Mrs Ruasell beat Miss Bartlett, Mrs Gould lost to Mrs Johnstone, Mrs Smart beat Miss Aldworth.

On Friday afternoon Indies of the Catholic Church gavo a farewell card and music afternoon to Mrs J. Larmer and Miss Larmer who are leaving hero shortly. The function was hold at Mrs K. Wilson's residence, the drawing room being decorated with coloured streamers, spring flowers and daphne. Mrs A. W. Blanchard won the prize, and Mrs D. O’Connell the consolation. A lucky number competition was won by Mrs F. Garard. Musical items wore rendered by Mrs O’Connell, Miss E. Howell and Miss Larmer, and twenty partook of a dainty afternoon tea. Mrs Wilson, in presenting Mrs Larmer with a folding card table, and Miss Larmer with a travelling hat box, expressed the regret of the Catholic community at the departure of Mrs and Miss Larmer, who had been among the most active workers in church affairs here. Mrs Wilson added that all hoped I hat their guests would enjoy every happiness in their new home. Mrs Larmer briefly replied, saying that sho regretted very much leaving Bulls, and their many friends in Bulls and district, but. hoped to see them all when settled down again.
