BUNNYTHORPE.

BUNNYTHORPE, June 12
The competition football match between Bunnythorpe and Batteries was played on the Recreation Ground on Saturday. There was a good attendance which had the pleasure of seeing a clean but willing game. Bunnythorpe kicked off and some give and take play followed, when a fine passing movement by G. Reynolds, E. Duthie, L. Duthie and H. Waugh put Batteries on the defensive. An exchange of kicks by both full-backs resulted in J. Powell finding the line well down. From the line-out Batteries got woll away and from a good ground kick Bunnythorpe were called on to defend. From a scruin Battories backs got going when -McKinlay intercepted -to go well down the field before being tackled. Play again cmne back to midfield, when Peck (Batteries) found the line right on the corner, resulting in Bunnythorpe forcing. From the kick-out all the Bunnythorpe backs took part in a passing rush, when, from a miss-kick by the Batteries full-back, C. Pinfold scored. Batteries put in a great forward rush and the ball came out to C. Jackson, who evaded a number of tacklers to score right on the corner, the first spell ending soon after with the scores even. The second spell opened with some give and take play, when L. Duthie found the line well down and put tho Battories on the defensive. From the ruck the ball came out to E. Duthie, who picked up to dash over right between tho posts. J. Powell converted. Thi3 put Batterjcfl on edge nnd from some good play they had Bunnythorpe defending, hut H. Waugh and J. Powell saved the position. McKinlay put in a good bid to score but "was thrown out right on tho corner. Batteries again carried play out of danger. The forwards on each side were playing willing football. From a scrum G. Reynolds set his backs in motion and fast play by E. Duthie, L. Duthie and 11. Waugh resulted in the latter scoring. Batteries were putting in every effort to score, but good play by the home team kept thoni out. The gamo ended: Bunnythorpe 11, Batteries 3. Mr Woodham gave every satisfaction as referee.
