POWER LINE EXTENSION
SUPPLY SOUGHT AT COLYTON. Reporting to the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board yesterday afternoon on the financial support which would be available for a power line extension of 6 miles 50 chains at Colvton, Mr W. P. Bickers said that he had met the settlers in the area concerned. Some £415 was required in revenue to meet a guaranteed return of 17$ per cent, on the line, but only £l4O was available. It had been asked that the board should not seek such a high guarantee, ior the area was in an unreticulated “pocket” which was surrounded by lines. The chairman (Mr C. G. C. Dermer) said it was the definite policy of the board to require a guaranteed revenue return of 17$ per cent, on new lines constructed.
Mr tj. A. Nash, M.P. : Not only that, but the Loans Board insists upon it.
Mr Bickers was thanked for his report, the board deciding that no action could be taken in the meantime.
