CRICKET IN ENGLAND.
WEST INDIES v. MIDDLESEX. Received June 13, 9.50 a.m. LONDON, June 12. In their match with the West Indies team, Middlesex, in their first innings, made 178 runs (Newman 50; Headley 4 for 27). West Indies, who compiled 382 runs in their first innings, made 251 for the loss of five wickets' (declared) in their second strike (Roach 77). Middlesex, in their second innings, have lost no wickets for 7 runs. LANCASHIRE LEAGUE. Lancashire League performances include Hird 152 not out. the highest score since the War, MacDonald 9 for 28, Richardson 50 run out, and 5 for 28, Merritt 29 runs and 7 wickets, and Fairfax 43, not out.
