WOMAN SENTENCED.
Per Pi •ess Association. CHRISTCHURCH, May 8. In the Supreme Court Myrtle Long, a maried woman, for discharging a revolver with intent, was ordered to pay the costs (£24) of the two trials, to enter into a recognisance of £IOO to keep the peace and come up for sentence if called upon within two years. Mr Justice MacGregor said lie agreed with tile recommendation of the jury to mercy. In ordinary’ circumstances such a serious offence would call for gaol for some years, but in view of the extraordinary and unequalled circumstances he did not intend to deprive prisoner of her liberty.
