APOLLO TRAMPING CLUB.
The week-end trip made by the Apollo Tramping Club to Fabling’s Track proved a very successful outing, although the weather was very stormy, and perhaps it was on account of these conditions that some of the members did not turn out. However, 21 members were present. The party, under the leadership of Mr F. R. Lewis, proceeded to the camp site at the Tiritea. Reservoir, and' from there went up into the bush and across to Fabling’s Track, which took them to the top of the main range, and along towards the Paliiatua Track. At 12 o’clock a halt was made for lunch. As the conditions were not very favourable it was decided that some of the party return, and this was carried out under the leadership of Mr Siddell, who is an expert bushman. The main party continued, making a circuitous route down into the Tiritea basin, through dense bush and tangled undergrowth, where Mr J. Green, was able to procure many fine specimens of native plants, etc., for the club’s botany circle. On reaching the Tiritea stream the party returned to - the camp site, where the other party had the billy boiling for them. Mrs H. Brown was one of those who made tho trip. The next tramp will be to the Tokomaru Falls.
