OPTIMISTS’ CLUB.

Optimist W. H. Brown was in the chair at the weekly luncheon of the Palmerston North Optimists’ Club, held yesterday in Messrs Collinson and Cunninghame’s rooms. Tire speaker was Miss Joan Bradfield, the subject of her address being “The Wonders of Plant Life.” At the conclusion of an interesting address Miss Bradfield ivas accorded thanks.

The secretary (Optimist T. Twigge) reported that as a result of the money collected the previous week one sack of potatoes each was sent to All Saints’ Children’s Home, the Willard Home and the relief depot. Optimist C. Woods, in a short speech, congratulated Optimist Brown on his re-election to tire City Council and cheers were heartily given by the Optimists. Optimist Brown suitably replied. An apology for absence -was received from Optimist W. Cameron. Miss M. Penketh was welcomed as a visitor.

Optimist R. A. Fuller will preside next Friday.
