TAKARO CHURCH
PARISHIONERS’ ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Takaro Church parishioners was __ held evening, Rev. Canon G. _Y. Woodward presiding. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs ». Hall and J. L. C. Merton. The balance-sheet showed a firedit on the year’s working of £2O 8s 6d. The chairman congratulated the parishioners on coming through the year successfully despite the trying times, remarking especially on the healthy state of the Sunday school finances, which indicated the great activity which was there carried on. The Ladies’ Club was congratulated on its efforts towards augmenting the piano fund. The retiring committee were commended for their zealous work in connection with the church, especially the secretary, Mr A. D. Barkwith, and the treasurer, Mr T. B. Arlidge. A special vote of thanks was passed to Mr W’. Hall for his work in the parish and to Mr C. Bevin his work on the social committee. Votes of thanks were also accorded Mrs Bigham and the lay readers for their services. The work of Rev. C. Hyde, who is in charge of the Takaro district, was eulogised by the vicar. Mr Hyde is leaving to take over the position of vicar of Puketapu, in the Waiapu diocese. A motion of appreciation was passed to the superintendent of the Sunday school. Miss B. Mercer, for her zeal in imparting religious knowledge to the children. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Secretary. Mr A. D. Barkwith; treasurer, Mr T. B. Arlidge: committee. Messrs C. Bevin. W. Hall, J. L. C. Merton. R. Tait and R. Carruthers.
