The nominations for the Feilding municipal elections closed at noon today to disclose the unopposed return of the Mayor (Mr C. E. Taylor). For the Borough Council a citizens’ ticket, consisting of Messrs E. Fair, G. Ivilvington, S. D. Pearce, A. C. McCorkindale, J. C'orpe (all retiring councillors), W. W. Andrews, G. Darragh, D. Fairweather and A. J. Kellow, has been nominated.

Three retiring councillors, Messrs T Collins, A. H. Maguire and D. C. Cullinane found it inconvenient to accede to re-nomination. The Labour interests have put forward three candidates, making 12 contestants for the nine seats on the council. The following are the candidates for the council and their nominees:— W. \Y. For the Mayoralty Mr Taylor was officially nominated by Messrs A. J. Ke'llow and Jas. Knight and 31 other ratepayers. The Power Board issue discloses two nominees for the seat, Mr P. G. Guy, the sitting member, and Mr V. E. Smith. Tho above two are also opposed to each other for a seat on the Palmerston North Hospital Board, which Mr Smith holds at present. As the local representative on the Foxton Harbour Board, Mr A. J. Kellow has been returned unopposed. Mr P. W. Goldsmith, who was voted to office following the death of Mr C. Blenklrorn, has been re-elected unopposed. Mr Goldsmith has also been re-elected unopposed as the borough representative on the Foxton Harbour Board. The Levin Borough’s representative on the Horowhen.ua Power Board will again be Mr C. S. Keedwell. Mr G. A. Monk will again rep resent the combined boroughs of Levin, Otaki and Shannon on the Palmerston North Hospital Board. NO MARTON ELECTION. Per Press Association. MARTON, April 21. Mr F. P. Purnell has been elected unopposed for his seventh term as Mayor and the sitting councillors were elected unopposed. WELLINGTON’S MAYOR RETURNED. WELLINGTON, April 21. Mr T. C. A. Hislop has been returned unopposed as the Mayor of Wellington. There are 34 candidates for the 15 seats on the City Council, nine for the four city .seats on the Harbour Board and 29 for the 14 city, seats on the Hospital Board. CONTEST AT NAPIER. TWO MAYORALTY CANDIDATES. Per Press Association. NAPIER, April 21. Following the decision of the Government that the Commission in control of Napier cease next month, an election will be held as previously for the Mayoralty. Mr J. Vigor Brown, the sitting Mayor, is opposed by Mr C. Morse, the chairman of the earthquake relief committee. There are 24 candidates for 12 seats on the council. MAYOR OF ELTHAM. Per Press Association. ELTHAM, April 21. Mr Ira J. Bridger has been re-elect-ed unopposed as Mayor of Eltham for the fifth successive term. CONTEST IN INVERCARGILL. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, April 21. Only two have been nominated for the Mayoralty, Mr John Miller, the present Mayor, and Mr J. D. Campbell, an ex-Mayor. Twenty-four nominations have been received for the City Council.
