BRITISH POST OFFICE.

RECORD SURPLUS. LONDON, Feb. 9. The net Post Office surplus in 19311932 is the largest recorded (£10,631,794), mainly due to the postal services. The telegraphs lost £809,754, but telephones made a profit of £571,848.

DEPOSITORS IN SAVING SBANK. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Feb. 8. The Postmaster-General, in a speech at Liverpool, referred to the work of the Post Office Savings Bank which now had over £300,000,000 standing to the credit of 10,000,000 depositors in all parts of the United Kingdom. An.-thor £212,000,000 was held in small investments of Government stock and these small capitalists in many respects were the backbone of the country.
