The attendance was good and the track in fine order. The totalizator showed a big increase, handling £7828 15s for seven races, as against £5414 10s last year for eight races. Results: — WAITARA HURDLES, of 85 sovs. About ono mile and a half and 100 yards. 2- EASTERLY, 10.10 (A. In the run homo Easterly was doing best and won by a head from Riotous who probably made his run a trifio too early. Kimbo was two lengths further back, with a break to Inviotus and Royal Reign. A bad start was responsible for the defeat of tho hot favourite, Golden Wings, who was conceding Refresher and the other leaders fivo lengths when they settled down. Lady Quex attended Refresher to the straight but was beaten below the distance and Golden Wings, who was disappointed in looking for an opening on the rails, came up on the outside over tho last fifty yards to get within three-quarters of a length of tho New Plymouth gelding, Refresher.
