MASTER BAKERS.

CONFERENCE AT DUNEDIN. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN. Feb. 8. The Master Bakers and Pastrycooks’ Association of New Zealand commenced its annual convention this morning, Mr G. A. Laurenson (Dunedin) presiding. The annual report of the executive stated that, as a result of lack of protection from the Government by the fixing of the price of wheat and flour without making a corresponding fixture on the price of bread, and competition from chain stores, bread was being sold at bankrupt prices throughout the Dominion. The question was whether the time had arrived for the absolute elimination of bread sold from other- than bakers’ shops.
