The Yarmouth herring fishing, which began in September, ended late in December, when final landings were made by three boats. The best catch was one of 20,000 herrings. Earnings of boats ranged from £2OOO to £3OO. The landings this season totalled just over 280,000 crans, which is 100,000 crans less than last year. Tne value of the season’s catch is estimated at' between £300,000 and £400,000, but the bulk of this money went to the_ Scottish fleet, which shared in the fishing.
