FEDERAL BASIC WAGE.
REDUCTION IN AUSTRALIA. Received January 28, 10.50 a.m. CANBERRA, Jan. 28. From February 1, the Federal basic wage in Sydney will be reduced by lid weekly to £3 6s 7d. Other city reductions are ns follow : —Melbourne and Perth, Is 6d to £3 0s 4d and £2 18s Id, respectively; Brisbane and Hobart, Is to £2 15s 8d and £3 3s 6d respectively; Adelaide, 2s to £2 15s 4d. Thirty of the principal towns drop Is 3d to £3 Is 2d. The average for the six cities is £3 Is 8d per week.
