CATERPILLAR IN MANWATU. (From Our Own Correspondent 1 -d uw? h n rSda / S i ? ee - Insr of tho Manawatu Rabbit Board, the inspector (Mr D R Barron) exhibited two caterpillars on nieces of ragwort picked in tho Manawatu during .the courso of his monthly inspection work m connection with noxious weeds cradieation. The inspector stated that the caterpillar had been released somo timo ago by the Cawthron Institute to combat ragwort and had only just made its appearance in tho Manawatu. It was by no means common yet, and he had found it in only one or two instances during a tour of the' board’s dis trict. It was, nevertheless, hero and would in all probability establish itself before long, riio grub devoured the foliage and flower of tho plant. B nu
