CARGO OF FISH.
QUESTION OF DUTY. Received January 26, 10.10 a.m. SYDNEY, Jan. 26. The Customs authorities have been set a problem over a cargo of fish brought from New Zealand waters by the trawler Alfie Cam. The vessel which is owned in Australia, called at the Manukau Harbour, Onehunga, to land a man for medical treatment. Having thus touched New Zealand, the point is whether tile fish in her holds, largely New Zealand varieties, which if brought liei-e by trading vessels would be subject to 10 per cent. primage duty, is liable.
Customs officers boarded the Alfie Cam and sent a repiort to Canberra, but the general opinion is that the duty will not be imposed.
