The Governor-General and the Lady Bledisloe will spend Cliristmastide at Wellington. Mr W. Watson has been appointed a representative of tho producers on the New Zealand Honey Control Board. The Upper Hutt Borough Council last night appointed Mr A. C. Kenner, formerly clerk and treasurer of the Kaikoura County Council, town clerk of Upper Hutt. A Press Association telegram from Wellington states that news has been received of the death in Sydney of Mr Herbert Page, resident director for Australia and New Zealand of Messrs Butterwortli and Coy. Mr Chas. E. Quin, of the External Affairs Department, Wellington, has received notice 'of his appointment as cashier of the Treasurer at Apia, Samoa. Mr Quin has had previous experience in Samoa, where he was sent to reorganise the postal arrangements. Formerly pupils of tire Palmerston North High School, Messrs R. It. Grigor, son of Mr A. Grigor, of Fitchett Street, and C. P. Powles, son of Colonel C. G. Powles, of Flock House, have been successful in passing the medical intermediate examination (biology, physics and chemistry) at the Otago University.
