WHEAT FARMERS.

STRIKE PROPOSAL SUPPORTED. MORRIN (Alberta), Dec. 17. The proposed wheat seeding strike was supported here when 100 farmers went on*record as favouring sowing no wheat in 1933. This was done at a meeting of the United Farmers of Alberta District Association, with farmers from the Morrin, Munson, Royley and Big Valley areas attending. . . Several speakers stressed the serious, ness of the step, though they favoured it. Picketing, they said, would have to be resorted to, even to the extent of destroying the crops of farmers who opposed the strike. The resolution was passed enthusiastically, and it was decided to place the question before the annual meeting of the United Farmers of Alberta on January 17 in Calgary.

IMPROVEMENT IN MARKET.

WINNIPEG, Dec. 17., Encouraged by renewed pledges of faith in the shape of a substantial export trade, wheat staged a smart comeback to-day to close li higher in all three futures. The surprising upward swing appeared to reflect a complete halt in the liquidation which swept the market yesterday. Brokers reported good buying from both Atlantic and Continental seaboard houses. There was also some good investment buying, and Vancouver reported a clearance of several cargoes for the Orient.
