CHRISTMAS GIFTS.

FROM AUSTRALIA TO LONDON. Mr J. R. Collins (Financial Adviser to the Commonwealth), in the absence of the Resident Minister (Mr S. M. Bruce), presented the Lord Mayor of London with a Christmas cake from Australia on which is a replica of the Sydney Cricket Ground, with a board showing the test match scores. A large Slacard bore the legend, “One Up to ngland,” and another read, “This is the Famous ‘Hill’.” Mr Collins declared that Australians in London admired and congratulated the English team. The Lord Mayor replied that he was delighted to accept the cake on behalf of Londoners as a token of love from the great Dominion. He proposed distributing tho cake to the sick in London hospitals. England, he said, was proud of its eleven’s splendid performance in the first test, but the “ashes” were not won vet. Captain Richardson, of the liner Jervis Bay, presented the Lord Mayor with a carcase of lamb on behalf of the Lord Mavor of Melbourne. A Sa.nta Claus, wearing an Australian Eleven cap and carrying a bat, distributed presents of Australian produce.
