BLAZE IN TOKIO.

SEVERAL PERSONS KILLED. TOKIO, Dec. 16. An enormous eight-storeyed department store at Sliirokiya, Tokio, was gutted by a. fire which began on the third floor at 9 o’clock in the morning, and spread upwards rapidly. The celluloid Christmas decorations helped the flames. Five hundred customers, mostly women and children, and 1300 employees were trapped. Many jumped to death. Ono hundred and ten persons ''ere taken to hospital, where seven died. It is feared that the death roll will be very heavy. A police report states that thirteen are at present known to bo killed and twenty-eight injured, including customers and 1 employees.

DETAILS OF CASUALTIES. Received December 17. 10.15 a.m. TOKIO, Dec. 16. Fourteen are dead and 93 are seriously injured as the result of the Sliirokiya fire. ’Hie loss is estimated to exceed five million yen.
