GENERAL’S DOWNFALL.

DISARMED IN SIBERIA. The disarming and interning of General Su Ping-wen, the rebel Manchukuo officer, and his forces took place at Chita on the night of December 4, Russian advices state. A train with over 40 coaches crossed the border at Manchuli, and was searched by Soviet officials. Su Pingwen and his officers were found aboard, together with a thousand Chinese volunteers.

They had first asked permission to cross the border, and on the Soviet officials refusing it, they seized the train and forced the driver to take them across. Many soldiers and civilians who were unable to obtain conveyance walked across the border, ar-

riving in Siberia suffering from frozen feet and hands. , It appears that the Japanese first defeated General Ma Chan-san, th former heroic defender of Mukden, whose death has been reported many times, leaving Su P ng-wen without support at Hailar, from which he fled.
