PRICE OF BUTTER

BIG MARGIN IN LONDON. EXPLANATION OF POSITION. LIMITED SUPPLIES OF DANISH. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received December 15, 8.30 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 14. Dealers attribute the abnormal margin between Australian and Danish butter to the heavy arrivals, especially of New Zealand, which is quoted below Australian, depressing the Australian prices. Traders emphasise that Denmark has a large Continental market and the supplies to Britain are therefore restricted. One trader stated: “It is the elementary question of supply and demand. While the Australian and New Zealand shipments continue heavy and the Danish normal, there will necessarily be a -wide difference in price.”
