RECEIPTS FROM STADIUM.
PROFIT TO ASSOCIATION. “It is my belief that even if the stadium receipts may be only sufficient to meet the expenses and prizes of running the stadium events, stadium events are an essential feature of the evening attractions and xvitkout them the main gate revenue would be seriously reduced,” stated the chairman of the gate stewards (Mr W. G. Black) in his report to the general committee of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association yesterday. “Assuming that 60 per cent, of the stadium admissions would not have been recorded at the main gates without the stadium events, I estimate that the increase in the main gate takings is approximately £337 for this Spring Show and the Winter Show of this year as follows: —Spring Show £152, Winter Show £lB5.
“This figure is without taking into account the stadium admissions themselves, amounting to £2OB 3s 6d for this year (Winter and Spring Show). | The approximate total gross revenue thereby brought to the association at the two shows since the stadium was installed, is £545. "Without this attraction liow could the evening gate revenue have been maintained this year, and are not these figures positive proof of the necessity for attractive evening entertainments ? I firmly believe that evening entertainments of the right type put on at the stadium at both shows m the year could provide a minimum of £SOO per annum in gate and stadium revenue, or approximately 20 per cent, of the total annual revenue from gate, grandstands and stadium admissions. In short, they ma.y represent the difference between a profit and a loss on the association’s working. The evening gate takings for this show are the highest recorded since 1928, when the evening show was first inaugurated.”
