The second burglary in a. shop in the main street within a fortnight occurred during the week-end, the premises entered on this occasion being the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Company’s ironmongery and hardware shop in the centre of the town. The intruders were disturbed before effecting an entry to the safe containing about £4O. The thieves removed razor blades, a wristlet wa.teh and electroplate ware from showcases. The safe was dragged out of the recess and with a brace from the shop the intruders bored a small hole through the back. Then apparently one man opened a door, and, in doing so, knocked down a. large vase and, frightened at the subsequent crash, they left hurriedly.
