CALF CLUB RESULTS
GROUP JUDGING
TAONUI AND ASHHURST
Yesterday the judging of the No. 4 and 5 groups of Manawatu-Oroua Division of the Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs was carried out, the gatherings being held at Ashhurst and Taonui respectively. In each case keen interest was shown in the competition by the parents of the children as well as by many other visitors, all of whom wore impressed by tho quality of the calves.
At Taonui, particularly, the calves were in splendid condition, tho judges commenting very favourably upon them.

HOME GARDEN PLOTS
At Ashhurst School yesterday afternoon tho homo gardens competition held in conjunction with the Agricultural work of the school was judged by Mr E. H. Lange, agricultural instructor to the AA’anganui Education Board. Tho plots were limited to six varieties of vegetables and marks were awarded under the headings of variety, cultivation, spacing, utility, general appearance, record. Three plots that would have done credit to any experienced adult wore seen by the judge. The records in two instances were excellent examples of sustained observation, also, Mr Lange states. The prize-winners were as follow : Maurice Read 1, plot 42, record 10; Joyce Doreen 2, plot 42, record 4; Robert Davis 3, plot 39, record 7; John King 4, plot 35, record 8; Selwyn Fisher 5, plot 32, record 10.
