SOVIET OPINIONS.
REPLY TO GREAT BRITAIN. Received December 9, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 8. It is understood that the Soviet has replied to Britain that it is not responsible for the editorial opinions of the Izvestia and cannot apologise for them.
A cablegram received yesterday stated that Sir John Simon had pointed out to tho Soviet Government that various matters of difficulty and complexity, particularly in relation to trade between tho Soviet and Britain, would shortly arise for discussion between tho two Governments. If the Soviet Government wished these matters to bo discussed in the usual manner as between Governments in friendly relations, they must apologise for tho language of an article in the Izvestia and also ensure that no further statements of the kind referred are to be made in future.
