AUSTRALIAN LOAN.

AMOUNT OF SUBSCRIPTIONS. CANBERRA, Dec. 7. The Prime Minister, Mr J. A. Lyons, to-day announced tlie result of tlye Commonwealth 3J per cent. £8,000,010 ten-year internal loan, which closed on Monday. The total amount subscribed was £5,086,000 by 4151 applicants. As the loan was underwritten by the Commonwealth Bank and trading banks, the balance will be subscribed by them. It is intended to devote half of the loan money to public works in various States and the balance to funding Treasury Bills.
