SECTION OF HIGHWAY.

TAR-SEALING ADVOCATED.

ti * w WANGANUI, Dec. 7. , at the Wanganui and District Development League should continue to press to have the Sanson-Himatangi section of the main highway tar-sealel!, was the opinion expressed by the chairman, Mr D. Dustin, at the meeting of the executive of the league. . Repins to correspondence on the subject were received from the Wellington, Auckland Taranaki and Manawatu Automobile Associations, the general opmion being that, in the present state of the Highways Board finances, the time was not opportune to press for the undertaking of the work. Mr Dustin went on to say that the road was a most important one, carrying a large amount of traffic, and was in a very bad condition. At present many motorists were omitting Wanganui from their route, and detouring via Palmerston North, rather than take the banson-Himatangi Road. R. M. McElwain said he thought the league had fulfilled its obligations ky bunging the. matter under tho notice of the Main Highways Board, and he was sure the work ‘would bo put in hand as soon as there were funds available. The league should not farther and embarrass the board. . k© Wanganui Automobile Association advised that it had suggested to the Mam Highways Board that the sealing should be placed at the head of the list of urgent works. The league agreed to the recommendatum.
