GERMAN VILLAGE SWEPT BY HURRICANE.

The village of Laudenhaeh, situated in the well-known tourist centre of the Bergstrasse. in Germany, was swept on October 13 bv a violent hurricane which, althoug)i_ lasting only a few minutes, did much damage. About 150 houses were unroofed, and a number of houses, especially the older ones, appear to have been twisted out of shape. The electric high-tension, transmission lines were destroyed, and the village plunged in darkness. Some 200 trees, mostly fruit trees, but among them some old lime trees, were uprooted or snapped off and carried some distance away. No one was hurt.
