SALVATION ARMY.

YOUNG PEOPLE’S ANNIVERSARY. The special young people’s anniversary service at the Salvation Army during the week-end were a record success. On Sunday, under the directorship of Major and Airs Gray, the young people excelled themselves in their songs and varied items. In the afternoon the tiny tots thrilled the audience with their items and their anticipations when the presentation of - prizes was announced created a high pitched interest. The attendances were all that could be desired, and • when Monday night caihe the hall was well filled with those who desired to see the programme which had meant many weeks of practice. Appreciative comments were heard front all parts, and it wns considered to be the finest young people’s programme ever seen in the hall. It would be difficult to separate the items in any endeavour to award particular merit. During the evening Aliss AA'eekes was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers front the guards for her instruction. Airs Bell also received a bouquet as an appreciation for her work on the piano. Mrs Alajor Gray was also the recipient of two beautiful bouquets from the children. A large number of prizes were distributecL also a number of badges to the Sunbeams and Life-Saving Guards. Tilt platform, packed with Sunday school children and Sunbeams and Guards, with a black background and the front decorated in pink and white, the sides being draped, presented a most pleasing appearance. Aluch praise is due to Bro. B. Bell, the young people’s sergeant-major, for the efficiency of the work generally and the successful production of the splendid programme. Ensign Thorne expressed the thanks of the corps to Bro. Bell and his fine band of workers. On Sunday night- six new members were sworn in as soldiers by Ensign Thorne, the ceremony being most impressive.
