BRITISH DYESTUFFS.
PROGRESS OF THE INDUSTRY. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Nov. 24. A report issued to-night by the Dyestuffs Industry Development Committee recommends that the Dyestuffs Importation Regulation Act, 1920, be continued on its present basis for three years and that arrangements be made whereby British dye-makers should be able to obtain their benzol, toluol and xylol at prices corresponding to those paid by dye-makers abroad.
Reference is made in the report to the remarkable technical and scientific progress achieved and to the high standard of research work. It says that tho range of products produced has been extended in marked degree and the quality of output maintained at a high level. British makers are now able to meet about 90 per cent, by weight of the home demand for dyestuffs as compared with about 20 per cent, in 1913, while the value of the total exports last year was the highest since 1923.
