FREEZING WORKS OPENING NEXT WEEK. So far buyers of fat stock have not been operating to any extent in the Manawatu district, but, in view of the fact that the freezing works will be opening next week, it is expected that their activities will commence at once. The freezing works in Hawke’s Bay have been in operation for two or three weeks, and it is expected that the prices in the Manawatu will bo similar to those on the East Coast. The price being paid for primo lightweight lambs at the freezing works is 4Jd per pound, ranging down to 3Jd per second class- The prices for wethers are from 2|d down to lfd per pound, and for ewes from ljd down to Jd per pound.
