LONDON WOOL SALES
KEEN GENERAL COMPETITION, OPENING OF NEW SERIES. COARSE CROSSBRED EASIER. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph right.) Received November 23, 11.10 a.m. LONDON, Nov. 22. At the wool sales 8691 bales were offered, including 2293 from New Zealand, and about 6546 were sold. There were some withdrawals of fine Merinos owing to high limits. There was a good selection and a large attendance. Keen general competition prevailed. French buyers, owing to the favourable exchange, were especially active. Compared with the October rates the changes are: Merinos, fine and medium unchanged: faulty, slightly easier. Crossbreds, coarse, 5 per cent lower. Others unchanged. • New Zealand sales were: Greasies, Lincoln Hills, halfbred, IOJd, top price, average 10)d, crossbred, 9id, Bj[d; halfbred lamb slipes, Canterbury 121 d, 102 d. Following are the prices current at the closo of the last aeries of wool sales in I,ondon in October: Merinos — d. dSuper, 60/64’s 104 to 12 Ordinary, 60/64’s 84 to 9 Inferior, 60/'64’s 7 to 7| Halfbreds—56’s 104 to 114 50/56’s 84 to 94 Crossbreds — 50’s 7 to 8 48/50’s 64 to 7 46/48’s 6 to 64 44/40’s 54 to 6 40/44’s 5 to bi 36/40’s 5 to 54 BROKERS’ REPORTS. . ABRAHAM AND WILLIAMS, LTD. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report having received the following cable front their London office:—“The wool sales opened with a larger attendance than usual. Competition was animated, Continental buyers being the chief operators. The selections were good with a small proportion of New Zealand wools included. Greasy halfbred 50-56’s, 9)d; 48-50’s, 7Jd; fine crossbreds, 46-48’s, 6d; 44-46’s, 54d ; sliped, par to 5 per cent lower. Australian Merino, par to 5 per cent, lower.”
