NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. TITLE TO LOCAL ENTRANT. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 22. The New Zealand amateur wrestling championships were concluded tonight. Results are as follow: Bantamweight.—C. Jones (Auckland) beat L. Nolan (Wellington). Featherweight.—R. W. Hutcheson (Wellington) beat W. Williamson (Auckland). Lightweight.—Semi-final: H. Benton (Palmerston North) heat B. Bullock (Wanganui). Final: It. Boe (Wellington) beat Benton. Welterweight.—A. J. Newton (Auckland) beat-F. Wilson (Hawke’s Bay). Middleweight. Semi-final: W. Nicholls (Palmerston North) beat It. Allen (Wellington). Final: Nicholls beat J. Simpson (Auckland). Light - Heavyweight.—lt. Douglas (Auckland) beat C. Lowe (Wellington). Heavyweight.—E. A. Browne (Wellington) beat D. Scarrow (Wanganui). PROFESSIONAL BOUT. WHANGAItEI, Nov. 22. Walker and Mamos drew in a wrestling bout on Monday night, each securing one fall. H. BENTON’S SUCCESS. At tire New Zealand wrestling championships at Auckland, H. Benton, of Palmerston North, 9.13)11), met A. E. Webb (Waikato) 9.2 in the second round of the lightweight class, winning by two falls to nil. In commenting upon the bout, the New Zealand Herald states that the winner’s strength gave him an advantage which Webb vainly endeavoured to counter.
