MARTON, Nov. 21
Tlio quarterly summoned meeting of tho Loyal Marton was held on Friday evening, there being a good attendance. In tnc unavoidable absence of the N.G., Bro. G. H. Denhow, the gathering was presided over by T.P.N.G., Bro. R. L. Gill. Reports showed that three members were on the sick list. Correspondence included an invitation jfrom Manawatu Lodge to join in with a visit to the combined Wellington lodges on Saturday, December 3. returning the following day. If possible the lodge will be represented. An invitation was received from the Wanganui Past Masters’ Lodge for Past Grands of Marton Lodge to dg present at their next meeting on December 1, when it is proposed to hold a social after business is concluded. A notice of motion regarding tho fees payablo by honorary members who are the wives of benefit members of tho order, was moved by Bro. H. J. Fowler. P.G., and seconded by Bro. A. Slcs«*or t P.G., and after a discussion it was resolved that such fees shall in future bo one shilling per quarter, a reduction of two shillings. The chief business of tho evening was the election of officers, but as there was only one nomination to eacli o,f the major chairs, the proceedings were shortened. The results of the election were as follow: N.G., Sis. M. 11. Oldfield (unopposed) ; V.G., Bro. J. O’Shaughnessy (unopposed) ; E.S., Sis. Ruth Fowler (unopposed) ; Lecture Master. Bro. W. E. Leek, P.G. ; management committee. Sis. F. Archibald and Bros. J. Miscall and R. G. Gill: auditors, Sis. F. Archibald and Bro. G. IT. Benbow (re-elected);, warden, Bro. IT. W. Archibald; guardian. Sis. D. I. Taylor. The installation of the officers will’ take place next lodgo night. The executive committeo of the Marton Athletic and Cycling Club met on Friday evening. Mr E. C. Haddock presided. Mr A. Smart’s resignation as handicapper of cycling events was accepted with regret and Mr A. Parkes was appointed in his stead. Mr J. Clark resigned as handicapper of pedestrian events on account of pressure of business. Tho resignation was accepted with regret, and Messrs C. Henderson and F: Wood were appointed handicappers for running events. *
