MANAWATU CENTRE’S REPORT
ACTIVITIES OF THE YEAR
In reviewing the activities for the 1931-32 season, the Manawatu Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association states: —“Tire season showed an improvement over its predecessor. There were in all 12 carnivals held by the clubs and the centre, which, were all of a high standard. The centre’s ■ meetings generally were well attended. The statement of receipts and expenditure shows a very satisfactory position, largely due to the successful carnival. Nine clubs registered and six held carnivals. The centre carnival, which comprised mostly championship events, was very well patronised by the public and competitors. The centre’s congratulations are extended to Mr L. Smith and Miss P. Sporle, both of the Feilding Club, for their wins in the New Zealand championships, and also to N. Hurdle and Olive Sporle, who were successful in the primary schools’ championships. The centre congratulates the Manawatu Head Centre of the Royal Lifesaving Society on the continued progress which it is making in again being second in the results for New Zealand, which we hope is the prelude to being first next year. In conclusion, we wish to thank our secretary, Mr TV. R. Eyre, for his valuable work, Mr and Mrs McLeod, of the Municipal Baths, for services willingly rendered at all times, and Mr N. I. Nielsen, for auditing the books. We trust that with the co-operation of all delegates and swimmers generally the coming season will be a most successful one.”
