CONCILIATION COUNCIL.
BOOTMAKING TRADE
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Oct. 13. Wages and conditions in the bootmaking trade were discussed in the Conciliation Council to-day, the employees asking for 2s 3d per hour for ordinary working hours and the employers offering Is 9sd with Is 6id for semi-skilled workers. The employers proposed a 44 hour week, with provision for shifts to be worked outside the regular hours. The workers wanted a 40 hour week, working on five days. Agreement was reached on some matters and the proceedings were adjourned until to-morrow.
